Nepal Day 15… EBC Day 8…

Wow… What a CRAZY adventure!

This last week has seen so much… I don’t know where to start… Except to say I’m alive 🙂

This experience is something I will never forget

… There was no wi-fi above 3400m… But now I’m back in Kathmandu… And I just had my first shower in 9 days! Crazy!

imageI only made it up to Tukla (elev 4700)… Last night was enuf… I couldn’t sleep due to the elevation… I was up all night… As soon as I started to doze off, I’d start gasping for air due to the lack of oxygen… On top of that I was feeling the effects of altitude sickness worsen…

… I may be foolish, but I’m not stupid

I took a helicopter back to civilization, to get out of there as fast as I could 🙂

The trek started on the 17th…. In 5 days (plus 2 days climatizing) I travelled 65km on foot… Averaging 13kms a day… Rising 3000m in elevation…

imageThe conditions were extremely difficult… No heat, no showers, sleeping in sub-zero temperatures… (with the same clothes you have been wearing all week)

I’d wake up in the morning to find my water bottle by the side of my bed, frozen

I wonder why ppl do this trek… I just happened to ‘wander’ into it…

… Everyone was passing me on the trek to Everest Base Camp (EBC)… I was just taking my time enjoying the view… Everyone was so ‘determined’ to make it to base camp…

So much ego is needed to push the body (and mind) through such difficult conditions…

imageBut I wonder, what for?

So many ppl I met were popping pills to avoid the effects of ‘altitude sickness’… One girl was so effected by all the ‘meds’ she was taking, that it was comical just to hear her talk 🙂

I refused to take any meds… For me, it’s not worth getting to base camp ‘artificially’… By chemicals 🙂

I went as far as needed to go….

They say one should always be weary of a fool…

But in a foolish world, it’s the fool who is really sane… In a crazy world, it’s the one who’s crazy, who is really sane…

Those who ‘conform’ to a crazy world, see sanity as insanity… They see a fool as one who is crazy

For one to non-conform, he is going against the current of society… Because society’s purpose is to relieve us of our ‘animalistic’ nature…

imageBy relieving us of our true nature (our animalistic nature) without us coming to a deep understanding of it, we are in fact becoming more animal…

Societies rise and societies fall… Societies are always trying to ‘tame’ the other…. But look at where the societies end up…

… Many great mystics have ‘wandered’ into the Himalayas to understand their true nature

There is something to be said about wandering… It’s like following a path that is not there… It’s like walking a path you are creating yourself… Possibly by something ‘divine’ that is guiding you…

imageThese mystics leave society to come up high into the mountains… They have all been in search of something… These mountains seem to have the answer…

I’m searching as well and I’ve found my answer… But to others, I might as well, seem crazy 🙂
